Frequently Asked
Questions

How does the Otetto design process work?

We adhere to a structured series of stages to ensure a fully integrated design process. While the details may differ, the typical process often consists of these key steps:

  1. Initial consultation
  2. Site visit
  3. Selection of house design
  4. Schematic design & choosing materials, fixtures, and finishes
  5. Tailored design phase to suit your needs and site
  6. Commencement of construction

Are Otetto designs suitable for bushfire prone areas?

Certainly, all our designs comply with regulations for bushfire prone regions. Should you need a higher rating such as BAL 40 or FZ, please discuss with our team how we can modify our designs to meet these specifications.

Are Otetto homes energy efficient?

Our homes are meticulously designed with a strong emphasis on energy efficiency. From advanced hemp insulation to high-performance windows, we prioritize features that not only enhance your comfort but also contribute to a reduced environmental impact. Our commitment to green building practices ensures that your home is not just a space to live but an eco-friendly haven that conserves energy, lowers utility costs, and minimizes your carbon footprint.

Do you offer customisable floorplans?

Our architectural designs follow a modular design concept, allowing homeowners to adapt their living spaces by adding or removing rooms to align with their specific needs and lifestyle. This process will be guided by your Otetto design consultant and is subject to site and budget considerations.

What is the process for selecting finishes and fixtures?

We alleviate the stress associated with finish selection by pre-specifying finishes that harmonise with the principles of each home design.

I have a sloping block; will your designs accommodate my site?

Indeed, all our designs can be tailored to align with the specifications of your block or site.

I have trees on my property, can I build an Otetto home on my site?

If the trees on your property are deemed significant or protected by your local council, their removal might not be permitted. To determine this, it’s necessary to enlist an arborist to evaluate your trees. The council will then make a final decision based on the arborist’s report.

Should you have inquiries about this procedure, your Otetto sales consultant will be available to guide you.

How will I know if I can finance an Otetto home?

Maintaining integrity and transparency in pricing is integral to our entire process. We strive to provide a comprehensive cost estimate upfront, enabling you to confirm your budget before making any commitments.

We highly recommend seeking professional financial advice from your bank to ensure clarity regarding your options.

What's the difference between DA and CDC?

A CDC (Complying Development Certificate) application is a streamlined approval process for certain types of low-risk development that meets specific predetermined criteria set by the local council and state government. It typically involves a faster approval timeline compared to a DA (Development Application), as it bypasses some of the traditional planning assessment steps.

On the other hand, a DA (Development Application) is a more comprehensive process where proposed developments are assessed against local planning regulations and policies. It involves a thorough review by the local council or relevant planning authority, considering factors such as environmental impact, zoning regulations, and community concerns. The approval process for a DA usually takes longer than for a CDC, as it requires more detailed scrutiny and may involve public consultation or hearings.
